Blogmas #4: 5 hacks for a cocooning day

Here I am, sitting in front of my pc along with my oatmeal (not a real success btw), which is cooling down, while trying to put my words down except none are coming. I want to publish a well-written article that makes sense and is different from what we have ever read/watched on blogs/social media before. I want to make it inspiring and viral!

I promise, I've even read other articles, you know to get inspired. But they're all the same, telling you to wake up early, get some fresh air, a big glass of water, practice some movements, etc, etc...

So, I won't sweat it any longer and I'll simply share with you the exact cocooning day I live when I need a day.

Hope you'll like it. :)

1. No alarm

Rule #1, do not set an alarm! I, for one, love waking up naturally and not because my alarm told me so. Please, respect your sleep! Then, I help myself with a big glass of water to hydrate my body after a long night. In the meantime, I boil some water and prepare a warm cup of tea (at the moment, I drink some Green Pistachio from Teatower, my favorite Belgian tea house) before going back to bed and chill for 1 hour, sometimes 2, on my phone (we said authenticity).

2. No watch

Rule #2, remove your watch for the day. No one is expecting me anywhere (I always make sure to not plan anything), which allows me to pace my day according to my desires. It's a game changer, it truly helps me disconnect for a day.

3. A bit of organization

Rule #3, plan your cocooning day! I know, some will tell that planning is a source of stress, which is not compatible with the cocooning day concept.

In a way, I agree. In another way, I do not. I mean, do you really want to binge-watch Friends with a simple apple and a rest of peanut butter? That girl, would be frustrating.

I need junk food, comfy food, sweet treats, whatever! It's good for the mood. It goes the same for the activities. What if you want to start a new book that you don't even have? What if you lose 1 hour scrolling down Netflix to find the perfect movie? In other words, you got to prepare for your cocooning day!

4. 20 activities for a cocooning day

There's no rule #4, rather a list of resourceful activities in case of lack of inspiration:

  • A yoga session

  • A Reiki session with my pal Charline (more info on her cool website: sparkleyourlife.com)

  • Binge-watching Harry Potter

  • Prepare a cookie cake (that girl, is my fav' 🤤)

  • Start a new book

  • Create a spa at home (DIY masks/ scrubs, moisturizer, do your nails, etc)

  • Taking a hot bath in front of Friends

  • Gardening

  • Painting

  • Coloring

  • Looking at an old photo album

  • Creating a new photo album

  • Walking in the countryside, along a river, in a park

  • Getting lost downtown and stopping for a hot drink

  • Making DIY candles

  • Treating yourself to a massage

  • Making your favorite hot drink

  • Lighting candles

  • Stretching

  • Listening to your favorite podcast

5. My junk food list

Did you seriously believe I could end this article without even mentioning my foodie list? Come on, I thought you knew me better than that!

Before any remarks, let's be clear. None of the below are healthy or conscious. However, they're good for the mood, which is the intent we are looking for when it comes to a cocooning day.

  • M&Ms

  • Reeses

  • Cookies from Herta

  • Popcorn

  • Nachos

  • Oven Lays (Mediterranean herbs flavor)

  • Salty cashew nuts

  • Brownies

  • Nicnac

  • Chocobon

  • Twix

  • Chocolate bar

  • Ben&Jerry (peanut butter cup flavor)

That's all I get for today. I hope you enjoyed the reading and that the article triggers your inner cocooning girl.

See you next week for the last blogmas,

Math
